Introducción al Craps

Craps is a dice game that has a long, long history, dating back by some as far as the Crusades, and known as "hazard" in its original form. What we know as the modern game of craps evolved from when the game was brought to New Orleans in the 1800s by Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville, where the modern American version was born.

The game, first known as crapaud in the US, later became called simply "craps", and quickly became popular and spread throughout the country. Like most popular casino games, craps is pretty simply in nature, and is similar to poker and blackjack in that its simple to play in its most stripped down form (all you really need is a pair of dice or a deck of cards and some people who want to gamble).

While craps has been popular for centuries, it's been the last fifty years or so that it's really skyrocketed in popularity, tracking the rise of Las Vegas and the spread of casinos in general. Once locked at as a seedy game played by dangerous gamblers in back rooms and alleys, casino games such as craps, blackjack, and poker have been increasingly embraced as glamorous, glitzy pastimes.
